Tiejun Zhang

Tiejun Zhang is Deputy Director of the Department of European Studies at Shanghai Institute for International Studies.

He received his PhD at the Department of Peace and Development Research at Gothenburg University, Sweden with a PhD Dissertation entitled “Reconstructing the Great Wall: China’s Security Strategy in the Early 21 st Century”. In addition to his studies in Sweden he has several academic achievements and record of academic cooperation from other foreign universities including universities in Spain, Austria, Malaysia and Finland.

His areas of expertise include East Asian regionalization, Sino-US strategic relations, and Chinese foreign policies. His previous research areas also include East Asian security after the Second World War and Tiejun Zhang is also a specialist on Modern Chinese History.
