May-Britt Stumbaum
Guest Researcher
German Council on Foreign Relations

May-Britt Stumbaum is a Resident Fellow at the German Council on Foreign Relations where she focuses on ESDP, NATO, CFSP and the relations of Member States and the EU vis-à-vis China. Since April 2006, in the framework of a "European Foreign and Security Policy Studies" scholarship, she is working on European Foreign and Security Policy towards China, contrasting the national to the EU policies vis-à-vis the People's Republic. The scholarship programme, funded by the German Volkswagen Foundation, the Swedish Riskbankens Jubileumsfond and the Italian Compagnia di San Paolo, selects every year 25 scholars from all over Europe to further research on the role of the EU as a global actor. During her research stay at the Silk Road Studies programme, May-Britt will in particular focus on Swedish-Chinese relations.

Since 2005, May-Britt also covers the German site of Jane's Sentinel Security Assessments of the Jane's Information Group. From April 2002 - 2006, May-Britt was in charge of the Forum European Foreign and Security Policy. Before joining the DGAP, she was Head of the Asian Department at Berlin Partner, a public-private-partnership aiming at promoting the city of Berlin. From 2000 – 2001, May-Britt Stumbaum served as personal assistant to Dr. Shalini Randeria at the Institute of Advanced Science, Berlin, and the Centre of Social Research, Berlin.

May-Britt Stumbaum studied Political Science at the Free University of Berlin and graduated with an MSc in European Studies from the London School of Economics in 2000. In 2001, she was granted a scholarship of the Robert Bosch Foundation and the German Studienstiftung (Stiftungskolleg für internationale Aufgaben), but started working at Berlin Partner instead.

May-Britt Stumbaum is president of Women in International Security Deutschland, WIIS.de.
