Johan Engvall
Lecturer, Researcher

Johan Engvall is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Center. He is also working towards a Ph.D. at the Department of Government, Uppsala University. His research interests are state-building, nondemocratic regimes, security politics and transnational organized crime. His main area of expertise is Central Asia.

He holds a degree in Political Science from Stockholm University and a degree in East European Studies from Uppsala University.

His commentaries have appeared in Expressen and Uppsala Nya Tidning. He has also given lectures at conferences organized by for example the Norwegian National Police Directorate, the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI), the Swedish Police Academy and Society and Defence (FoF). A lecture on transnational crime has also been broadcasted on SVT 24.
