Conflict Management
---
GENERAL INFORMATON

The main theoretical aim is to develop today existing theory, methods, and instruments for conflict management and prevention. The project also aims at increasing the confidence in- and understanding of conflict management and conflict prevention in the military establishment, political elite, and research community.

This project is not only theoretical but large emphasis is put on the operationalization and implementation of the theoretical findings. Since the project bridge between theorists and practitioners, it allows for a continuous implementation and testing of the relevant theoretical models. In other words, the models of conflict management and prevention is developed for the real-world in a real-world context.

This project is part of the by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs funded research on Conflict and Security in Asia.

Since 2003 the bulk of the research has been undertaken within a project on Conflict Management in Northeast Asia (see below), which has mainly been funded by the Swedish Research Council.

From 2005 and onwards a special project on Nepal focusing on the building of capacity in conflict management has been funded by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. From 2006 onwards, a specific project on the South Caucasus has been funded by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs with additional funding from the Folke Bernadotte Academy.
