In addition to his appointment as a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, John Dunlop is also a member of the steering committee of the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies at Stanford University.  He is a recognized expert and regular commentator on the North Caucasus.  His most recent books are: The 2002 Dubrovka and 2004 Beslan Hostage Crises: A critique of Russian Counter-Terrorism (2006) and Russia Confronts Chechnya: Roots of a Separatist Conflict (1998).  He and Rajan Menon co-authored an article entitled "Chaos in the North Caucasus and Russia's Future" that appeared in the Summer 2006 issue of the British journal Survival.
