Matthew Evangelista is a renowned scholar in peace and conflict studies, with a specific research interest in the North Caucasus. He is author of The Chechen Wars: Will Russia Go the Way of the Soviet Union? (Washington, DC: Brookings Institution Press, 2002, cloth and paperback), and editor of among other Peace Studies: Critical Concepts in Political Science, 4 vols. (London: Routledge, 2005).
