In spite of obvious vulnerabilities, the economies of Central Asia have successfully surmounted the initial challenges of independence. But where are they headed? Will there be
common features, or is each country's economic future fated to be ever more distinctive?  And, finally, what are the driving forces in the regional economies?

Addressing these questions will be Richard Pomfret, who has since 1993 acted as adviser or consultant to multiple international financial and development agencies on Central Asian economics. His most recent book is The Age of Equality: The twentieth century in economic perspective (Harvard UP, 2011). Dr. Pomfet is also Non-Resident Fellow at CACI.

To RSVP, kindly email your name and affiliation to SAISCACIForums@jhu.edu. Registration is required and must be received no later than 10 a.m. on the day of the event.
