In a donor conference in London this past January representatives of seventy countries met and pledged their support for Afghanistan. Benchmarks were set for economic development, infrastructure building, rule of law and human rights. Planning for a new international conference, this time in Kabul, is now underway. In this critical period preceding the Kabul Conference, our guest speaker, Dr. Omar Zakhilwal, Minister of Finance of Afghanistan, wishes to engage the audience in a discussion about the effectiveness of current aid and, more generally, about workable solutions for the country’s economic development.
The Forum opens with a reception and refreshments at 5 PM. The program will begin promptly at 5:30 PM and conclude at 7 PM. RSVP for this event is mandatory and will not be accepted after 10 AM on the day of the event. To register, please send an email with your name and affiliation to SAISCACIForums@jhu.edu or call 202-663-7723.
