The U.S.-Georgia relationship has been developing since Georgia ’s independence. It grew more intense following the 2003 Rose Revolution, when Georgia embarked on a path of democratic reform and Euro-Atlantic integration. In January 2009, the United States and Georgia signed a Charter of Strategic Partnership. While Georgia has numerous security challenges where it seeks U.S. support, it is also a contributor to international security, among other through its role in energy security and peacekeeping. Where does the U.S.-Georgia relationship stand today? How can it best be advanced over coming months? What are the challenges ahead?
