Among many widely debated recent regional developments, Turkey’s heightened focus on the South Caucasus ranks high. Besides developing unprecedented relationships on Turkey’s side, the evolution of Ankara’s policies are of importance to all major powers as well as affecting the fate of Caspian energy and the small countries of the region. Ambassador Ünal Çeviköz, Deputy Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Turkish Ministry of the Foreign Affairs, will be providing his perspective on the subject.

Ambassador Çeviköz  is a graduate of both the Department of English Language and Literature and the Department of Political Science of Boğaziçi University, and holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Brussels. He has served as Turkey’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan (2001-2004), and as Ambassador to Iraq (2004-2006). Since January 2007, he holds the positions of Deputy Undersecretary for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Asia, Africa and International Security Affairs.
