Fergana Valley is quite literally the heart of Central Asia, a microcosm of the region’s problems and also of its prospects. The Central Asia-Caucasus Institute, backed by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA, has undertaken a multi-year analysis of the region’s past, present and possible future. Twenty-four scholars from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have teamed up to carry out the study. Dr. Shozimov, a leading Tajik academician and one of the national editors of the study, will report on its findings to-date. In addition, he will offer his own observations as an anthropologist and ethnographer.

Light refreshments will be served at 5 PM.  The program will begin promptly at 5:30 PM. and conclude at 7 PM sharp. The Central Asia-Caucasus Institute is a leading center conducting fundamental and applied research on an important world region. It has offices at SAIS (Johns Hopkins University), Washington, and in Stockholm, Sweden, through a Joint Center with the Silk Road Studies Program (Institute for Security and Development Policy). This Joint Center publishes the Central Asia-Caucasus Analyst (cacianalyst.org), the China and Eurasia Forum Quarterly, and the Silk Road Papers as well as books and monographs.
